How the Upwork rank is calculated
UpHunt continuously indexes the public Upwork marketplace, over 4 million job posts and 1.5 million freelancer profiles. For every category, country and skill with enough active freelancers, we compute a 99-point percentile curve of last-90-day earnings. Your rank is your position on those curves, counted only against freelancers who earned something in the window: ranking you against dormant profiles would flatter everyone and mean nothing.

How is my Upwork rank calculated?
Your last-90-day Upwork earnings are placed on percentile curves computed from UpHunt's dataset of 1.5M freelancer profiles. You are ranked only against freelancers who actually earned in the last 90 days, dormant profiles are excluded, so the rank reflects the market you really compete in.
Is my rank card public?
No. A card only exists when you generate it yourself, and it only becomes a public page if you press Share. Until then, nobody else can see it.
Why are the ranks approximate?
Ranks are derived from statistical percentile curves, not a live count of every profile, so we round them to two significant figures. A rank shown as #1,100 means your earnings place you around that position, honest precision beats fake exactness.
What if I have no recent earnings?
Ranks are measured against freelancers who earned in the last 90 days. If your profile shows no recent earnings (or hides earnings), there is no honest rank to compute yet, check back after your next contracts.
