The shift, in points

• Part-time: 68.24% to 69.77%, up 1.53 percentage points. Already the dominant category two years running, and it just got a little more dominant.
• Full-time: 24.18% to 23.10%, down 1.08 points. The clearest loser of the four categories.
• As-needed: 3.58% to 2.85%, down 0.73 points, the steepest relative decline of the group even though it started smallest.
• Not sure: 4.00% to 4.28%, up 0.28 points, essentially flat.

None of these moves are dramatic on their own. What they add up to is a market that is quietly, consistently choosing part-time and flexible engagements over full-time hourly commitments, and has been for at least a year.
